President - Yanik
Hey, I'm Yanik, the President of Bandsoc. I'd like to think I'm in charge, but in reality, I've got a great exec team behind me, who are on top of everything anyway. My role is to lead them, and you, to make sure that things run the way they should, so everyone gets access to our facilities and equipment, and so we can put on a bunch of great gigs and a stellar Battle Of The Bands competition. Also, I represent us to the Union, so if you've got any issues, I'm listening.
In real life, I play lead guitar for The Black Dogs. I'm into classic rock, but I love blues and funk too. I'm an engineer by trade, so that usually means I'll be in bed in Leamington when there are lectures to be enjoyed. I'm very friendly, helpful, blah blah..., so if you want/need something, don't be afraid to ask. Let's rock!
Vice President & Equal Opps - Jamie
Hey there, I'm Jamie, this year's Vice-President. My role involves helping Yanik out wherever I can, as well as being the Equal Opportunities Rep for the society. My goal is to make sure you can enjoy playing and watching as much live music as humanly possible.
I love being on stage behind a drum kit and I'm lucky enough to play for "Rambutan" and "The Black Dogs". I also study Philosophy, Politics and Economics in my spare time.
Bandsoc is YOUR society so if you have any ideas or question, get in touch.
Social Secretary - Lee
Hey all, I'm Lee the new Social Sec for bandsoc. My role involves all of you lovely people! Making sure that you have a good time and settle into the society well... My duties should consist of a few main things such as holding socials and possibly organising a trip or two further afield to the more mundane odd jobs of lugging PA's and stuff like helping with the ever smooth running of the BOTB competition.
I used to play trumpet in what was Bandsoc's premier ska band, and although would not be bold enough to call myself a guitarist sometimes like to play a little guitar (in the privacy of my room)...
As you can probably tell from the rest of the exec's statements we are quite a friendly bunch so if you have any problems, idea's or suggestions then feel free to get in contact with any of us.
See you at the bar! xx
Treasurer - Jack
Hello there, I'm Jack, your treasurer for the year. My job is too financially back Bandsoc purchases made on your behalf. SHOW ME THE MONEY!
Aside from all that jazz, i am a bassist by Band trade standards and a Lawyer/Sociologist by real life standards, if you need me or my cash give me a bell.
Publicity - Tom
'lo, I'm Tom. I'm bandsoc's publicity officer, which basically involves promoting stuff by any means necessary (I did promise in my elections speech to run around playing acoustic guitar to spread the word about bandsoc). The important part of this to all you guys is that I can get your gigs promoted on the union website and I'm willing to help design posters if you ask nicely.
Musically I play bass and guitar, sing a little and will try and play anything handed to me if asked to. I'm currently in two bands, Silencing the Outspoken and Blue Audio. Silencing the Outspoken are a 5 piece metalcore band and Blue Audio have a rather unique sound involving female vox, an electric violin and elements of punk/hardcore (it's interesting and great fun).
I somehow fit this around a biochemistry degree along with as much skateboarding as possible.
Secretary - Ardeshir
Hello!
I'm Ardeshir and I will be the Secretary of Bandsoc for the upcoming year. My job basically entails handling the day to day administration of the society and dealing with the many emails. So if you ever need anything I'm your man, don't hesitate to drop me a line, I'd be happy to help.
I also play guitar for 'Rambutan' and enjoy a vast array of musical genres, specifically Progressive Rock.
Apart from being bags of fun, Bandsoc is a great place to meet loads of new people and showcase your talents, so get involved!
Technical - Jim
Good day chaps.
I'm Jim, Bandsoc's Technical Officer. I'm charged with all things technical, whether it be sorting out the Bandsoc practice room equipment and live PA, helping out Ben with the website or getting heavily involved with Battle of the Bands, I'm there.
I'm a 3rd year Comp Sci student who plays Drums and provides the odd wailing backing vocal for the alternative pop-rock band, North For The Winter. I also run a smalltime studio out of my bedroom that has produced EPs for a number of Bandsoc's bands. See www.multitonestudios.co.uk for more info.
Do make the most out of Bandsoc; get on the forums, get in a band and get shredding. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch and I'll try to help out where I can.
Webmaster - Ben
Not too much is known about Ben yet, other than he's a brilliant web developer who has worked for google and that he's permenantly busy. :P
